These Listening Map, Diagram, and Plan Labelling Drills help you practise following directions while looking at a map, building plan, route, or diagram.
Before you listen, find the starting point first. Check the main landmarks, such as the entrance, café, road, bridge, room, corner, or building. Mark directions like left, right, north, south, east, and west if they are useful.
While listening, follow the speaker’s movement step by step. You may draw small arrows to show the route. Listen carefully for words like go past, turn left, turn right, opposite, next to, just before, just after, and at the end.
Do not choose an answer from the picture only. The correct answer must match the map/diagram and the speaker’s directions.
After listening, check the exact position. Ask:
Is it before, after, beside, opposite, or directly facing the landmark?
⚠️Important Warning:
Some tests may show blue question numbers and orange question numbers. If orange numbers are present, ignore the blue numbers.
Follow the orange numbers because these are the numbers the speaker will mention in the audio. The blue numbers are only for organizing the test.
The same rule applies to section numbers or section names. If orange section labels are shown, follow the orange labels only. Do not follow the blue labels when orange labels are present.
